Ride day! Yup, three days in a row! Not an early start, not necessary, just an easy day today. We’re going some place new – Bogus Basin. Only about 15 miles from downtown Boise, but a VERY twisty road, so it took a while.

On the way up, saw this:

Yes, the bike SHOULD be hanging by two bars that stick out the back to hold four bikes, but this person just laid their bike down on top of the bars, so only one bike fits. Fascinating!

Anyway, VERY scenic drive, and very beautiful area at the top, where the ski area is. Here are some shots at the top:

Just one problem, and that last photo shows it – see the trail? Here’s a close-up:

That is STEEP! Not much fun to go up that, or down, and all their trails seem to do that, at least for quite a lot of what we could see. No thanks. So, for ski resorts, we’re batting ZERO. Well, ok, not quite zero if you include the ski area in West Yellowstone, that we DID enjoy, but that is a cross-country ski area. Let me clarify – for DOWNHILL ski areas, we’re batting ZERO. I don’t think we’ll go look at another after this, it’s a waste of time. No interest in this steep a trail, or in being taken to the top to just ride down. No thanks.

So, what to do? Well, have lunch, first! Went by a Smoky Mountain Pizzeria and Grill. Had a Ninkasi Stout – a bit bitter, otherwise ok. And their Ultimate Pizza. It was ok. Not quite rated “good”, it was just ok.

Where to ride? Went back to Eagle Park, since it’s a fun place, and we did not look at much of it. Looked a t some other trails, re-rode some of the ones we did the other day, and generally had a pretty good time, Took more photos:

Now, the interesting part to me, is that the kiosks by the big parking lot where we parked, had this:

ONE flyer. No map, no directions, NO information about this park or its trails. REALLY? Beautiful kiosk, just nothing of value in it!

Well, we rode out to a trailhead in a neighborhood, where there really wasn’t much parking at all, and saw this:

MAPS! And fairly good ones! Where practically no-one will see them! EXCELLENT! Does my sarcasm show? I was afraid it might …

Well, anyway, the ride was fun, and we got some miles in.

Tomorrow? Travel day! And a big surprise, at that!
